I am a Christian
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not shouting "I am saved!"
I'm whispering "I was Lost"
That is why I chose this way
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I don't speak of this with pride
I'm confessing that I Stumble
And need someone to be my guide.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm Weak
And pray for strength to carry on.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not bragging of success
I"m admitting I have Failed
And cannot ever pay the debt.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I'm not claiming to be perfect
My flaws are all too Visible
But God believes I'm worth it.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I still feel the sting of pain
I have my share of Heartaches
Which is why I speak His name.
When I say... "I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge
I have No authority.
I only know I am loved.

More love than I can explain
Check out this fun photo slide show I made of baby Kayla's 8 months of life. Its going way too fast and it makes me sad. But I am enjoying everyday of being this sweet girls momma. She gave me a kiss tonight with no prompts needed. It made my heart overflow with joy!
Digital slideshow created with Smilebox I think I'll work on one for Kiara later this week. It should be a lot of fun looking back through her last four almost five years of life. |

Christmas part 2!!!!
We celebrated Christmas with my dad at his house. We had a really relaxed Christmas this year, which was nice. No one frantically running around the kitchen trying to get the meal prepared or anyone trying to con their way out of clean up. Just some simple food, visiting and gift opening. I loved watching my girls open their stockings! This was my favorite part of Christmas growing up and my dad now gets stockings for all the grandchildren.
Last but not least we celebrated at home the weekend before Christmas. This is something that since having a family of my own has been important to me. Waking up with my children on "Christmas morning" at home. There are stockings to be opened and pictures to be taken!
I love Jesus and celebrating His birth with my family. But even more than that I love what He did for us on the cross and how much He loves us all. If you don't have a personal relationship with Him and want to know more about Him, please ask me. I would love to talk with you about His life changing love.
Grandma Diane and Papa loved the homemade Christmas ornaments that Kiara made them |

This is what she did with everything she got a hold of |
This photo is funny in so many ways...cut on his nose, lame homemade Christmas card I made and that silly grin |
Aren't these boards so sweet? They were also made at Mosaic Treasures where my husband works. |
It warmed my heart to know that Josh thought of these gifts himself and helped make them |
The black board you see in this picture is what my husband got me from Mosaic Treasures. Its a necklace holder, he even mounted it for me. I absolutely love it!!! |

Christmas part 1!!!
Oh wow I have been blog lazy lately!!!
This year we celebrated the birth of our dear Lord and Savior several times!!!
One of the first was in fellowship at our "Ugly sweater" party with our bible study. As a family in general we don't have ugly sweaters. (probably bc any clothes I think are ugly immediately get put in the donation bag!) However we went and had a wonderful time. We are so blessed to be surrounded by the body of believer at the DTC and I love spending time with them!
We had a Christmas celebration with my mom and her husband at our apartment this year. I cooked a deeeelish pork loin! I was so happy the way it turned out because I'd never cooked one before. Our meal was great and we got to spend some quality time together. We also celebrated Josh's 31st birthday that day. I got him a french silk pie for his birthday cake but we were all so stuffed from the meal, he blew out his candles and put it back in the fridge for later.
A few weeks before the 25th we spent a day at my Uncle Denny's for the Backous Christmas. I love this celebration. Its been such a tradition in my upbringing and really is one of the only times I get to see all my dad's side of the extended family. Usually we celebrate on Christmas eve by eating great "snacks" and soups, attending church, singing carols and playing WHITE ELEPHANT!!!
This year was a bit different and therefor I was a little sad when I left. It was not Christmas eve, which meant no church service and to be honest I think as a family we got a little crazy with our white elephant gift exchange this year, me included. So my prayer for next year is that as a family we would be more focused on Jesus and sharing His love for one another. I know there are members of this family that are not believers and I would be overjoyed to hear salvation stories next year!
That being said we did enjoy spending time with the family and must give a big thanks to my Aunt LeAnn and Uncle Denny for hosting the gathering!
We spent Christmas weekend in Rockwell Iowa with Josh's family. It was so nice to get away (though not far) and spending time in a different environment. Josh's parents were so kind to put us up in a super sweet cozy hotel! I love hotels. We spent time with his parents, brothers+wife, and his aunt and two girl cousins! The girls are in their late teens and Kiara can't get enough of them! I always feel so encouraged while at my in-laws. The Spirit dwells in their lives and it makes for such a wonderful Christmas celebration. Its also fun to see my husband in his original element! He and his brothers are such goof balls, I love seeing them interact! Were were so blessed by his family with gifts this year as well. It was a wonderful visit and we loved getting to celebrate with them.
